DENTAL IMPLANTS VS DENTURES

Any dentist will attest that dental implants are far superior to dentures as a solution to tooth loss. The key advantages are their permanence – implants are fixed in place and can last the rest of your lifetime; and their similarity to natural teeth – implants convincingly mimic the look, feel and function of real teeth. Implants also stimulate blood flow to the jawbone, preventing the atrophy that leads to the sagging of facial tissues.

What exactly are Bicon dental implants?

The Bicon design is driven by simplicity. A cornerstone of its simplicity is SHORT implants. The Bicon Dental Implant System allows the dentist to consistently offer functional and gingivally aesthetic restorations to patients, so that they may truly enjoy implant prostheses that look and feel like natural teeth. Additionally, the odors and tastes associated with screws are avoided.

HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Getting dental implants can take a few months and require your gums to be in top condition. After the initial surgery, a temporary denture will be fixed while you wait for the jawbone to fuse with the implant. Once this has happened, a further procedure will be needed to affix your new tooth. At each step of the way you will be provided with an after-care plan to manage any discomfort, and you will need to return to Octagon Dental Centre for regular check-ups.

CAN ANYONE HAVE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Your suitability for implants depends on the quantity and quality (density) of bone in your jaw. We will carry out an assessment to determine if your jawbone is sufficient. If not, there is the possibility of grafting bone to supplement what is already there and provide a more stable support for your implant.
